Program
An existing city block in Shanghai's historic French Concession district is envisioned as a future focused theatre within a landscaped cultural park. The program includes a new 2,000-seat theatre, an outdoor amphitheatre, and a dramatic lobby.

To reduce the visual impact of the theatre on the site, the main lobby of the theatre is placed below grade. A silver curvilinear roof is suspended over a cable net curtain glass wall--opening up the theatre to the landscaped site. While a dramatic glass funnel at the center of
the lobby visually draws people down to the lower level.
